About
The Lunera Index is a standard for evaluating whether a brand has been made findable and understood in AI-mediated commerce. It was developed by Natasha Lorine, drawing on more than a decade of work inside the kinds of brands the Index now audits.
Natasha Lorine
Natasha Lorine is the founder of Lunera and the author of The Lunera Index. Her work sits at the intersection of analytical rigor and brand judgment, drawn from a decade and a half spent building the systems through which customers find, choose, and remain with the brands they trust.
She began her career in analytics at Gucci, where she built the cross-functional infrastructure that linked commerce, client experience, and operations into a single account of how the brand was actually performing. Subsequent leadership roles at Birkenstock, Shiseido, Vivino, Moda Operandi, and Diageo extended that work across categories whose customers do not buy on price alone — luxury, beauty, considered subscription, regulated multi-brand environments — and across the disciplines that determine whether a brand can be understood at all by the systems through which it is encountered: lifecycle architecture, behavioral segmentation, customer data infrastructure, attribution, and the governance practices that keep meaning coherent at scale.
She studied mathematics at Boston University and holds a Master of Science in Information Systems from Baruch College. Her formation is bi-national. She has lived and worked in Copenhagen, Stockholm, Paris, and Dubai, and divides her time today between New York and Paris. She speaks French, and reads premium and luxury categories with the cultural fluency this requires — an attention to register, restraint, and the codes by which meaning is encoded differently in different places.
The Lunera Index emerged from a single recurring observation across that work: that the brands which had invested most carefully in being understood — by their customers, by the systems that now mediate discovery, by themselves — were not always the brands that were being read correctly. The instruments to assess the difference did not yet exist. Lunera is the instrument she built.
